In his first start after his emergency relief appearance, we get to see if that little cameo might have thrown Haren off his game and undermined a great start for the ace.

Trout Watch Tuesday - 4/12/11

Written by Garrett Wilson on .

Twitter Trend Tuesday was fun and all, but the fact of the matter is that it didn't exactly draw eyeballs to the ol' blog and that doesn't make my Bloguin Overlords happy.  So, I have a new idea: Trout Watch Tuesday!  What could be better than a weekly check on the messiah of the Angel farm system, Mr. Mike Trout.  The minor league season just started last week, so let's see how our boy Trouty fared in his Double-A debut.

Mike Trout

Trout is #1 both on the prospect lists and in our hearts.

Wells Will be Fine, Just Give Him Time

Written by Garrett Wilson on .

Nobody liked the trade that brought him here, nobody likes his contract and nobody likes his early season numbers, but that is no excuse for Angel fans to be turning on Vernon Wells already.  How about we all just ease up and cut the newest Angel a little slack?  Give Vernon Wells enough time to actually get comfortable in his new digs and he'll be just fine.

I hate to say that I saw this coming, but I totally did (he said, patting himself on the back for being such a smartypants).  When it came to winning over the hearts and minds of Angel fans, Wells entered the season already behind the proverbial 8-ball.  All the vitriol and ridicule aimed at the Angel organization for that mind-boggling trade that brought Vernon to Anaheim tainted the jury pool against him.  We were all practically waiting for him to start off slow so that we could justifiably voice our displeasure with his general presence.  Sure enough, Wells has obliged by way of a comically abysmal batting average and the boo birds have already started in on Wells, a mere ten games into the 2011 campaign.

But you know what, the boos aren't going to help.

Vernon Wells

Seriously, booing the guy after just ten games?  What are we?  Yankee fans?

Game Recap 4/11/11 - Angels 0 Indians 4

Tyler Chatwood gets touched up for 4 runs, my hopes that the Angels stumbled upon a magical third ace is dead (for now), Torii continues to be unclutch, and Wells still sucks.

Game Preview 4/11/11: The First of Many - Indians @ Angels

Cleveland Indians (7-2) @  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (5-4)

Pitching Probables: CLE – Mitch Talbot (0-0, 4.15 ERA)  LAA – Tyler Chatwood (0-0, -.-- ERA)

Game Info: 7:05 PM PT; TV - Fox Sports West; Radio - KLAA 830 AM

Well, isn't this a nice little surprise? Tyler Chatwood, the highly touted pitching prospect, is starting tonight for the Angels. This is going to be a huge test for Chatwood, as he has to face a red hot Cleveland steaming through the opposition on a 7 win streak. Even though Cleveland is hot, their pitching is still laughable at best. This would be the perfect staff for a struggling Vernon Wells to find his stroke against. Maybe Mark Trumbo will finally display that often talked about power. Even though the Indiand are red hot they are bound to cool down at some point, and Anaheim just happens to be the perfect place for them to do so.

The Angels Make Kazmir Disappear (For Now), But What's Next?

Written by Garrett Wilson on .

Desperate times call for desperate measures and what was happening with Scott Kazmir certainly qualifies.  In what may be their last ditch effort to salvage what is left of Scott Kazmir, the Halos have put him on the disabled list in hopes him getting healthy and finding whatever talent/skill/confidence/health he lost.  Will it work?  What if it doesn't?

Now you see me.  Now you don't.  But will you ever see me again?

Multiple Choice Monday: Can Kazmir Comeback?

Written by Garrett Wilson on .

Just when we thought we were nearing some sort of conclusion to the saga that is Scott Kazmir's Angel career, the much-maligned pitcher goes and "injures" his back.  This development certainly adds a new dimension to the debate that rages around what should be done with the embattled former ace, and with that in mind, how will this drama all playout once Kazmir does comeback?

Scott Kazmir

Time to vote!
