The February 17th, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including Burnett rejected a potential trade to the Angels for Abreu, Angels ranked 7th in in ESPN's Future Power Rankings, all the reasons why Albert Pujols is amazing and much more...
The Monkey Says: It sounds like the deal had been consummated, but it wasn't really. They hadn't even gotten around to figure out the salaries involved and that is a pretty major part of the trade. As bad as Burnett has been the last two years, this could've been a decent deal for the Halos since there really isn't much risk in trading a back-up DH for a fifth starter who might stink, but who also might pitch like a quality #2 starter. One thing is for sure though, Dipoto has been fibbing about not looking to trade Abreu, so don't be shocked if the Yankees revisit an Abreu acquisition after they finally rid themselves of Burnett.
The Monkey Says: These rankings don't really mean anything, but they are fun. I would've thought the Halos would rank better, but their middle of the pack farm system and unproven management knocked them down a rung or two.
The Monkey Says: "Albert's sixth-highest single-season OPS would be the Angels' franchise record." That's all you need to know.
The Monkey Says: I actually don't think that the Angels are going to carry seven relievers. Their bullpen isn't exactly great, but their starters go so deep into games so often that they don't need that extra arm in the pen to absorb innings. Maybe they carry an extra reliever to start the season until everyone is stretched out, but I'd bet they go with an 11-man pitching staff most of the season.
The Monkey Says: Honestly, it would probably be easier to make a list of hobbies that C.J. Wilson does NOT have.
The Story: Bobby Grich and his family went on a safari.
The Monkey Says: I really don't know why anyone would care about a retired player's family vacation photos, but maybe I'm the one who doesn't get it.
