The October 5th, 2011 edition of daily news for the LA Angels including Josh Hamilton slams the Angels, Lyle Spencer has another Mathis lovefest on Twitter, T.J. Simers takes some shots at Mike Scioscia and much more...
The Monkey Says: Ex-Angels have been pretty good for the Rangers the last few year, so Hamilton's slam is a pretty good one. But with Joel Pineiro, Fernando Rodney, Russell Branyan and (hopefully) Jeff Mathis, I dare Hamilton to put his money where his mouth is and sign one or more of those guys.
The Monkey Says: I saw that Twitter exchange and thought Spencer was joking until the last one about Mathis fixing his stroke. Really, Lyle, it is time to give up the ghost.
The Monkey Says: You're not going to believe this, but Simers slings a lot of mud and make some provocative allegations with absolutely no facts offered to back them up. Read at your own peril
The Monkey Says: Trout and Conger will get most of the press, but also keep an eye the AFL since top prospect Jean Segura is taking part.
The Monkey Says: The only name Bowden offered up that I hadn't heard yet is Jason McLeod, but it is a handy guide to give you an idea of what each person's strengths are believed to be.
If you want what "they" have, do what "they" do..."they" being the two teams that represented the American league in 4 times in the last 10 years. "They" have gone to the big dance two times a piece and we have gone once. "They" play in arguably the most competitive division in the game, we have a 4 team division that is really more like a 2 1/2 team division, depending on which Oakland team shows up. "They" dominate baseball news on any day that there IS baseball news. "They" are the Yankees and Red Sux, sorry for the typo. "They" are Cashman & Epstein. I know it is a real simpleton way to look at it but why muddy the waters - call a spade a spade - just get one of them, so we can move out of this funk and bring a few more rings to this franchise that we all love so much.
Wow, is this how Bowden evaluated players? Nothing but positives? No wonder he's out of work. I can't take this seriously, he wants to stay friends with these people. I like the idea of someone who came through scouting and player development, though, so this does give us a little background info.
