Halo Headlines - 12/23/09
- The Story: The Angels are in serious talks with reliever Fernando Rodney. The Monkey Says: At least the Angels are finally addressing their bullpen, but I really don't like Rodney at all. He is essentially a right-handed version of Brian Fuentes and would create a closer controversy if signed even if the Halos claim he is just being looked at as a set-up man.
- The Story: John Lackey's wife got puked on in one of their first visits to Boston after signing his contract. The Monkey Says: Excellent. The Baseball Gods are already exacting their karmic revenge on Lackey for being a traitor.
- The Story: Are the Angels still the best in the AL West? The Monkey Says: The Mariners, Rangers and, arguably, the Athletics have all improved this off-season, but the Angels are still the team to beat until proven otherwise on the field.
- The Story: The 2005 Angels made the top 10 list of biggest playoff disappointments of the last decade. The Monkey Says: Ah yes, the infamous "dropped third strike" post-season. Just when I thought I had fully repressed that memory someone has to go and bring it back up. At least the 2008 Angels didn't make the list, surprisingly.
